What does it mean to follow Jesus?

Lost & Found

It doesn't take much to see that the world is in a mess. The cause of the mess is the human heart that is inclined towards selfishness and we've walked away from God. The mess we're in is to varying degrees but nevertheless, we're all living in it - we're lost. The truth is that something is missing, something is broken about our lives.... that's where Jesus comes in.

Jesus came so that man could once again have relationship with God. Christ dying on the cross to bridge the gap between God and man is a free gift.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
— Romans 5:8 (NIV)
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
— Romans 6:23 NLT

Our Response

@@We must accept this free gift from God by committing our lives and heart to Jesus.@@

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
— Romans 10:9 NLT

Made New

Baptism shows others that you have been made new. It represents your old sinful life being washed clean because of your faith in Jesus. If you’ve made the decision to follow Christ, baptism is one of the most meaningful next steps you can take. Baptism is a public celebration of your decision to follow Christ.

What we Believe?

We believe in God as the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are all one God and are joined together into what we call the Trinity. Now you have surrendered your life to Christ you are a new creation made to live for Him.

He has eternally existed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three are coequal and are one God.

He is coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King.

He is coequal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts and as Christians we seek to live under His control daily.

How do I grow my faith?

God wants to have a relationship with us and He’s given us ways to know Him better. As we get to know God, we better understand His plan for us and we can strive to be more like Jesus.

Read the Bible

The Bible is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. It’s God’s Word written specifically to guide us through life. Download the Bible App and find a Bible reading plan to help you @@make the Bible part of your everyday life.@@

Make Prayer Part of Your Day

@@Prayer is talking to God, and there’s nothing more powerful than asking for God’s help.@@

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
— Philippians 4:6 NLT

What’s my next step?

Just like any other relationship, we need to invest time and effort into getting to know who God is and what He wants for us.

@@Life is better together.@@ When we interact with other Christians we find support and encouragement to continue in our faith jounrey.

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.
— Acts 2:42 NLT

@@When we put God first in our finances, we demonstrate complete trust and devotion to Him.@@

One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
— Proverbs 11:24-25 (NIV)

@@When we give our time and talents to serving others we play our part in building His kingdom on earth.@@

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
— 1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)

Tell others

When you experience something as good as God’s love, you want to share it with the people in your life! Talk about how God has changed your life, build relationships, and invite someone to come to church with you.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
— Matthew 28:19 NLT
